Time to publish some of the latest paintings while I continue to work on a series of gum-bichromate prints which will be published soon.

Working from a variety of photomontages and photographs taken from my travels, this latest series paintings, “Spruce and Gasoline “,  are a group of watercolour and acrylic paintings that explore the relationship between people and their environment.  They explore the relationship between people and their environment by focusing on the unseen beauty that surrounds us in both rural and urban areas. The works establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver.

"Fish Tales" the start of a series of watercolour paintings

The “Fish Tales” painting series depicts life in both the Canadian maritime  Mexican regions.  Portrayed are everyday people going about their daily routine. The paintings are watercolours and incorporate newspaper clippings.  The figures in the paintings are painted on newspaper clippings that were taken from the editorial/opinions sections of current local newspapers.

Each figure has their own personal opinion and each has a story to tell.  The articles are of the time that the study photographs for the paintings were taken thereby reflecting what was on the minds of the people at that time.

Each person is a vignette of that time and an integral part of the complete picture of what goes on around them giving us a glimpse of that moment of time.

New boat

Beneteau 235  sail number 15. Our new boat, name to be decided on. 

Possible name  Emmeline  It is as a girl's name is pronounced EM-a-leen. It is of Old French and Old German origin; Emilia which means to rival, excel, or emulate, which is what the Beneteau First 235, F235 does.  

 - "The Beneteau First 235 is exceptionally well designed by the Finot Group, which patterned her after their Mini-Transat, which was before its time, mimicking hull shapes of racing boats today. She is very well-built, fitted out like a much bigger boat. Indeed, this is about as many big boat features as any designer has ever gotten into a 24’ hull." -
